Budget scrutinised to 'assure value for money'

The government's proposed budget is being examined by officials to make sure it is good value for money for Jersey's residents.
The States Assembly's Scrutiny Panels have begun a review of the draft 2025-28 budget, external which outlines the Council of Ministers' spending and savings plans.
Members will look at the proposed budgets, spending, strategy and resources.
The Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel will report its recommendations to the States Assembly and individual panels may hold public hearings before presenting comments and amendments.
Deputy Helen Miles, chairwoman of the corporate services scrutiny panel, said: "Scrutiny’s detailed examination of the government’s proposed budget aims to offer islanders assurance that it will provide good value for taxpayers’ money. "
Panel members will be holding consultation events around the island, as well as going into schools to talk to pupils.
The proposed budget 2025-28 debate is due to take place in the States Assembly from 09:30 on 26 November.
