Fresh views are being sought after the planning application for the Colchester and Tendring border was tweaked

A fresh consultation over a 7,500-home development in north-east Essex is to be held for residents.

The homes scheme would be located between Colchester, Ardleigh, Wivenhoe and Elmstead Market.

Colchester City Council and Tendring District Council hoped building would begin in early 2027 if plans were approved.

The authorities said the new consultation, running for six weeks from Tuesday, was required due to a number of tweaks made to the plans.

The suggested amendments did not "vary significantly" from the original plan, said Tendring's council leader Mark Stephenson.

His counterpart at Colchester, David King, added: "We welcome the inspector's feedback and believe the proposed modifications will further strengthen the plans for the development."

Following the conclusion of the consultation, the planning inspector would decide if the plans were legally compliant.
