An 81-year-old man has died after being hit by a lorry in Nottinghamshire.
Police said they were called to North Road in Retford at about 09:30 GMT on Wednesday.
Motorists are unable to access the route in both directions between the junctions of Leafield and Fulford Avenue.
The road will remain closed "for some time" while the incident is investigated, police said.
Sgt Mark Baker, from the force's serious collision investigation unit, said: "This was a tragic and upsetting incident for everyone involved and we are currently working to understand what happened.
"Our thoughts today are with the victim’s family who will be supported in the days ahead by specially trained officers."
The force has asked for any witnesses who may help with information to come forward.
