Bin travels a wheelie long way from coast to coast

Daniel Cowan is wondering how a bin from Cumbria ended up in Southend

An Essex council has been left puzzled after finding a wheelie bin that seems to have travelled all the way from North West England.

The plastic bin, labelled Cumberland Council, turned up about 330 miles away in Southend-on-Sea.

Southend-on-Sea City Council's Labour leader Daniel Cowan said: "We know that our beaches are the best in the country, so maybe this wheelie bin just wanted to make the most of the last of the summer sun and come out to Southend.

"We're reached out to our colleagues in Cumberland Council to see how this recycling bin has taken the wrong turn and found itself a wheelie wheelie long way from home."
