Hundreds march for annual Foxstrut event

Nearly 200 people took to the streets on Friday as part of a campaign calling for safer streets for women, girls and LGBTQ+ people.

Participants of the second Foxstrut event marched from Horseshoe Common to The Triangle in Bournemouth.

They were dressed as foxes to represent the creatures' resilience and the ease with which it reclaims urban spaces.

Organiser and photographer Jayne Jackson said the success of the event was "proof that Bournemouth stands with us".

"We were overwhelmed by the sheer enthusiasm and support from both strutters and passers-by," she said.

"People stopped, asked questions, and once they understood our mission, every single one of them offered encouragement - thumbs up, cheers, and smiles."

Co-creator Lorna Rees said this year's event was "bigger, brighter, and bolder" than the last.

"The atmosphere was joyous, and it's clear that this town truly embraces what we're doing," she said.

"This is just the beginning."

Ms Jackson said she was "deeply moved" by the number of people who joined.

"Reclaiming the streets is about more than safety," she said.

"It's about visibility, community, and joy."
