A "sexual predator" has been jailed for five years and 10 months for raping a woman.

Craig Hillman, 36, from Scunthorpe, pleaded guilty to rape at Grimsby Crown Court on 7 July.

He was given a 10-year restraining order and will be on the sex offenders register for life following his appearance at the same court on Thursday.

Det Con Rebecca McInnis, of Humberside Police, said Hillman had raped the woman as she slept and "no amount of justice" would take away the "trauma" he had inflicted.

She commended the victim for her "bravery and strength" in coming forward, which helped to "take a sexual predator like Hillman off our streets".

"This ordeal will undoubtedly stay with her for the rest of her life," Det Con McInnis added.
