A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a car was allegedly driven at a police officer during a car meet in Doncaster.

South Yorkshire Police said the officer had got out of his vehicle to speak to one of the drivers at the event on Saturday when a Vauxhall Mokka was driven towards him, forcing him to jump out of the way.

The force said the driver had then fled the scene but was later brought to a stop "utilising specialist tactics" on Doncaster Road near Thrybergh.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving without a licence or insurance in connection with the incident and later released on bail.
