A Post Office branch is set to open in a town centre just over a year after a previous one closed when the shop it was in shut.

The new branch in Crewe will be based in the Victoria Centre close to where it used to be sited inside WH Smith.

It is set to open on 9 April inside a new convenience store called Oso Go.

The Post Office thanked local residents and businesses for their patience as it was looking to open a replacement branch in the town centre.

"We know that having a Post Office on the high street drives footfall and spend with other local retailers," said a spokesperson.

It will open Mondays to Saturdays between 09:30 and 17:30.

Crewe Town Council said it was "delighted" a Post Office branch was returning as it would benefit a lot of residents and encourage visits to the town centre.
