A career event is being held in East Sussex to help members of the armed forces find job opportunities outside the military.

The event at the Civic Community Hall in Hailsham on Friday aims to highlight the value of hiring veterans and active-duty members, while also bridging the gap between military service and civilian employment.

Wealden District Council is hosting the event between 10:00 BST and 14:00 in partnership with People Matter, a local charity which supports jobseekers.

A council spokesperson said: "The Armed Forces Career Event is a testament to our commitment to supporting our veterans and active-duty members in their transition to civilian life."

Attendees will be able to meet employers from various industries and connect with local companies and organisations that are eager to hire veterans and civilians.

Advice and guidance will also be given to veterans and active-duty members on completing applications, CV building, and interview techniques.

The spokesperson said: "We recognise the immense value they bring to the workforce.

"We are dedicated to providing them with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed."
