A section of the M20 in Kent was closed and a woman was taken to hospital following a three-vehicle crash.

Kent Police said it was called to the incident on the coastbound carriageway near junction seven at Maidstone just after 09:00 BST on Wednesday.

A force spokesperson said: "Officers attended the scene alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service, where a woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries not believed to be serious."

The road reopened at about 12:20, Kent Police said.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said two fire engines attended the incident to assist paramedics, although crews have since left the scene.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area and to find an alternative route due to the "heavy" traffic.

South East Coast Ambulance Service has been contacted for more information.
