Ex-police federation secretary charged with fraud

A former secretary of the West Mercia Police Federation has been charged with fraud.
Jamie Harrison, of Worcester Road in Droitwich, Worcestershire, faces 17 counts of fraud, all connected to his tenure as secretary and treasurer.
He is accused of misappropriating funds from members and of abuse of hospitality between 2010 and 2018, West Mercia Police confirmed.
The 53-year-old is due to appear at Worcester Magistrates Court on 14 March.
Although not a trade union, the Police Federation, external is a staff association representing the interests of officers up to the rank of chief inspector.
It negotiates pay and lobbies the government and police chiefs on matters affecting members.
