A cyclist has been hospitalised after her bicycle collided with an e-scooter that left the scene.

Hertfordshire Constabulary are seeking witnesses to the crash which happened at 20:00 BST on Sunday on The Ridgeway in Welwyn Garden City.

The force said the female cyclist, in her 40s, remains in hospital "with potentially life-threatening injuries".

The rider of the e-scooter failed to stop at the scene and PC Christopher Rowley-Smith said drivers with dashcams should check for "crucial footage to assist our investigation".

He added: “I would like to remind people that it is currently illegal to ride e-scooters on public land anywhere in Hertfordshire.

"E-scooters can only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission.

"While they can be used on public land as part of a government trial, there are no trials taking place anywhere in the county at this time.”
