A story about a 104-year-old woman receiving almost 400 cards on her birthday was among our most read stories this week in Berkshire.
The news was dominated by the election, but a variety of other local issues were featured on the BBC News website, BBC Radio Berkshire and South Today.
We have picked five of them to keep you up to date.
Metal nuts smash bus window and injure walkers
A man injured when a metal nut was fired from a van as he went for a walk said the experience has taught him not to "take life for granted".
Jazz Dhillon was one of at least three victims who had the small objects shot at them around Reading, Berkshire, in recent weeks.
Reading Buses said one of its buses also had a window broken when a nut was fired at it.
A 19-year-old man from Surrey, arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and criminal damage, has been released on bail.
Former Reading captain: Players 'devastated' after demotion
Reading Women’s former captain has spoken out about the “devastation” felt by some of her ex-teammates after the club was demoted to the fifth tier.
Lily Woodham left Berkshire in January to play in the US but had joined the Royals in 2018.
The club, which owner Dai Yongge has put up for sale, has faced severe financial problems over recent years.
It said without a "cash injection", its women's side could not meet the criteria to compete in the Championship, the second tier it was part of last season.
'Incredible' response for woman's 104th birthday
A care home resident has been showered with cards and flowers ahead of her 104th birthday.
Hilda Bond lives at St Mark’s Care Home in Maidenhead where staff appealed to the community for cards to mark her big day on Saturday.
The Bupa home will host a garden party for Mrs Bond with a live singer and her favourite Victoria sponge cake.
When asked what her secret was for living a long and happy life, she said: "Just take one day at a time... don't put yourself down all the time, be happy."
Landlord fined £24,000 for not fixing heating
A landlord has been fined £24,000 after his tenants were left without heating for six years.
Lakhbir Singh Rakhra was reported to Slough Borough Council's housing regulation team after repeated complaints from the single parent and four children living at his property.
He had been ordered by the authority to carry out the essential repairs in May 2022 but they were not completed for a further five months.
Mr Rakhra had appealed against the fine for not complying with the improvement notice but the penalty was upheld by the First Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber).
University buys £16m farmland for food research
A university has bought farmland worth about £16m for research into agriculture and food.
The University of Reading has purchased the 635-acre site at Tanners Farm, Farley, using money from its long-term capital investment funds.
The area includes pasture, arable land and woodland and is an addition to the farmland and facilities the university already has in Arborfield, Shinfield and Sonning.
The university's vice-chancellor said the purchase would help "secure the future of agriculture at Reading for the next century to come".
