Man arrested after reports of axe being carried

The suspect fled the scene but was arrested within 10 minutes of the initial callout, police said

A man was arrested 10 minutes after police were told of someone carrying an axe, officers said.

Essex Police was called to Lincoln Way on Canvey Island at 15:30 BST on Tuesday.

The suspect had left the scene but a 40-year-old was soon arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon, the force said. An axe was found nearby.
