A man in his 50s has been left with serious injuries following a knife attack outside a main railway station.

He was attacked in Station Square in Cambridge, near to Sainsbury’s and Pret A Manger, at about 00:15 BST on Thursday, 16 May.

The victim was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital suffering from serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Det Con Andy Watters described the attack as a "shocking assault" and appealed for witnesses.

The suspect was described as a man wearing a dark, hooded top with white lines down the shoulders and arms. He also wore black trousers with a white patch on the hips, and black shoes.

He cycled off on a white bike towards Devonshire Road.

Det Con Watters said: "It took place in a busy area... and we know there were taxis in the area and people walking past."

He appealed for anyone with information to get in touch with Cambridgeshire Police, external quoting crime reference 35/34576/24.
