A 30-year-old man has been arrested after another man in his 30s was stabbed in Burton-on-Trent on Tuesday.

Staffordshire Police said officers were called just after 22:00 BST to a hospital where the man was receiving treatment following disorder in the town.

On Thursday, the force issued a statement saying he remained in hospital in a critical condition.

The arrested man, from the Burton area, was detained on suspicion of attempted murder and remained in custody while inquiries continued, the force added.

Anyone with relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, particularly from the area around Casey Lane, is asked to get in touch with Staffordshire Police.
