A children’s paddling pool in Surrey is due to open on Saturday after staffing issues meant it was unable to operate.

The Stoke Park paddling pool in Guildford usually opens in May but the date was pushed back due to staff sickness, according to Guildford Borough Council, which apologised for the delay.

The pool will open at midday on 29 June. People are advised that nearby car parks may be busy due to a music festival in the area.

It comes after the council was forced to shut to pool in 2022 just days after it reopened following a £141,000 refurbishment, because people said parts of the pool’s floor surface were too slippery.
