Two people bailed in funeral home inquiry

Two people arrested as part of a major police investigation into a Hull funeral firm have been released on conditional bail.
Humberside Police removed 35 bodies and a quantity of ashes from Legacy Independent Funeral Directors following a report of "concern for care of the deceased" on 6 March.
A 54-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences on Wednesday, while a 46-year old man, who was held earlier this year, was also taken into custody on suspicion of theft and making or supplying articles for use in fraud.
A 23-year-old woman remains on bail.
No charges have yet been brought in the investigation.
The 46-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were initially arrested in March on suspicion of prevention of a lawful and decent burial, fraud by false representation and fraud by abuse of position.
Deputy Chief Constable David Marshall said the force did "not underestimate the devastating impact this will have had on hundreds, possibly thousands, of people and their lives".
He said: “There is work being carried out continuously behind the scenes as part of the investigation, and with these arrests for new and additional suspected offences, detailed analysis must now be completed to ensure we explore every possible avenue as we progress through the investigative process."
On Monday, detectives disclosed they had identified 163 families linked to ashes found at the firm's premises on Hessle Road.
Mr Marshall said officers were continuing to "personally visit the 163 families regarding the repatriation of the ashes".
He said support staff from Hull City Council and East Riding Council were offering "care and assistance to those who require help".
He also encouraged those affected to contact Victim Support’s helpline on 0808 2811136 if needed.
