Warrington Council to appoint new leader

Warrington Borough Council is set to appoint a new leader.

The council is to be asked to appoint Labour councillor Hans Mundry to the position at a meeting next week.

Mr Mundry currently sits on the cabinet and has been a councillor since 1995.

Current leader Russ Bowden previously announced his plans to step down and said he would not be standing for re-election.

Mr Mundry currently has responsibility for transportation, highways and public realm on the council’s cabinet.

His appointment is to be confirmed at a meeting of the full council on 4 December, external.
