A man has been charged with arson following a fire in West Sussex which spread from a car to a house.

The car, which was parked on a driveway in Ringmer Road, Worthing, was spotted on fire at about 04:50 GMT on Sunday.

No-one was inside the property at the time.

A 35-year-old man who lives on the same road has been charged with arson, assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage.

The man has been remanded in custody and will appear at Lewes Crown Court on 8 January.

Sussex Police want to speak to witnesses who saw anything suspicious around the time of the fire, and anyone with CCTV or doorbell camera footage from the area.
