An exhibition celebrating the history of games opens at Lincoln Museum later this month.

Visitors will be able to "roll the dice and let fate choose their route through the exhibition", the organisers have said.

People can explore the links between ancient games, well-known board games and contemporary table-top, role-playing games.

Games: Enter the Unknown runs from Saturday until 13 October.

'Unique' event

Jenny Gleadell, exhibitions and interpretations officer at Lincoln Museum, said: "After working hard behind the scenes to develop this latest exhibition, we’ve become immersed in gaming culture and the history of table-top games going back at least 3,000 years.

"It’s so exciting to see all the different elements coming together as we put the final touches to this unique exhibition for Lincoln Museum."

Ms Gleadell said the team had commissioned two new artworks that "celebrate games and their players".

There is no charge to view the exhibition, but people are invited to make a contribution.
