Pub thanks supportive customers after 11 floods

A Warwickshire pub that flooded 11 times in less than a year has thanked customers for their support since reopening.

The Royal Oak in Brandon was closed for four months after Storm Henk hit in January, swamping the pub with brown-coloured water.

Owner Khara Schrijvers said that around £180,000 had been spent on works including repairing damaged roofs, burst water pipes, cracked floors and more.

She added that while she had questioned whether it was viable to continue with the pub, they were extremely happy to reopen.

"We are so appreciative of the local community and all our customer base," she added.

Walls with flood gates have been built to help protect the pub from flood water

To make up for lost revenue, the pub has increased its opening hours in the hope of attracting more business.

The Royal Oak also installed custom-made flood gates to prevent water coming into the building.
