Two arrested after reports baby taken ill

Two people have been arrested after West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to reports a baby had been taken ill.

Paramedics called police about the incident at an address on High Street, Halmerend, Staffordshire, shortly after 01:10 BST on Thursday.

The child was in a serious but stable condition in hospital, said Staffordshire Police.

A man and woman, both 24 and from Newcastle-under-Lyme, were arrested in connection to the incident and released on conditional bail as investigations continue.
