A power cut in Devon has cut the electricity supply to nearly 100 properties and forced the closure of a school.

The outage was reported on Thursday evening, with National Grid reporting its engineers were working on a fault in the underground network.

Parents of children at Woodlands Park Primary School were asked to collect their children with "immediate effect" on Friday morning, reporting that their phone lines had gone down.

National Grid thanked customers for their patience and said it was working to restore power to 98 properties, with repair expected by 15:30 BST.

Postcodes affected included PL21 9TE, PL21 9TF and PL21 9TQ.

A National Grid spokesman said: "Our engineers are currently on site and working to get the lights back on as quickly as possible.

"We'd like to thank customers for their patience and understanding as we work to reconnect them."
