Free courses are available to help adults improve their numeracy

People in Surrey are being offered the opportunity to improve their numeracy skills through a series of free online courses.

Provided by the government and administered by Surrey County Council, the Multiply courses can be fitted around other demands and hobbies.

While most are online, some can also be taught face to face in a classroom.

As well as individuals, businesses can also put forward employees.

Clare Curran, cabinet member for children, families and lifelong learning, said: "Multiply courses are another tool from our skills toolbox to help improve economic outcomes for residents and businesses in Surrey.

"Strong numeracy skills are essential to help residents reach their potential and businesses whose workforces are number confident can boost productivity, increase profits, and improve employee retention."
