A man who raped a 14-year-old girl in a Bradford park has been jailed for 13 years.

Rajae Paul, 26, built up a relationship with the victim over Snapchat and Instagram using a fake name and claiming to be 16 years old, according to West Yorkshire Police.

After the victim travelled to Bradford to meet Paul on 5 June 2021, he took her to Peel Park, where he "violently raped" her, the force said.

Paul, from Bradford, was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court earlier, having been convicted of two counts of rape on 14 August.

Det Con Louise Clayton said Paul was a "violent sex offender" who had "never shown any remorse for his actions".

She said Paul had "lied from the very start and continued to lie throughout police interviews and in court".

She praised the victim for her "sheer bravery" in coming forward to report the rape.

"I hope today she can find comfort in the sentence, knowing that he cannot hurt her or any other woman again," Det Con Clayton added.

Paul was also given a sexual harm prevention order for 25 years and was told to sign the sex offenders register for life.
