A wreath laying ceremony and military parade is taking place later to mark Remembrance Sunday.
Commemorations started at 11:00 GMT at the Truro War Memorial on Boscawen Street.
Truro City Council said the wreath laying ceremony would happen at 14:30 and the commemorations would end with a service of remembrance at Truro Cathedral at 15:15.
Mayor of Truro Chris Wells said: "This year when we have marked the 80th anniversaries of VE and VJ days, I hope that as many people as possible will make a special effort to attend."
A military parade paused on Boscawen Street for a salute with His Majesty the King's Lord-Lieutenant for Cornwall, Col Sir Edward Bolitho.
The procession then continued to High Cross, outside the city's cathedral, where a guard of honour formed before being joined by the civic procession.
Elsewhere in the county, a Remembrance Sunday parade was held and Act of Remembrance observed at the war memorial in St Ives.
In Penzance, a parade set off from Queens Square at the top of Chapel Street to the war memorial at Battery Rocks.

"Let us hope that the guns remain silent for us and future generations"
Speaking at the service, Penzance mayor Stephen Reynolds said: "This is a solemn occasion where we pay tribute to those who have died in past wars, but also one at which we hope for peace for the future.
"The silence that we observe today marks the guns falling silent in past wars. Let us hope that the guns remain silent for us and future generations."
On Tuesday, a two-minute silence to mark Armistice Day will be observed at the war memorial on Boscawen Street in Truro at 11:00 GMT.
It will be led by the Truro branch of the Royal British Legion to mark the end of World War One in 1918, said the city council.
Mr Wells said: "The November remembrance events are an opportunity for us all to remember the many people who have given their lives in the service of our country, and to honour their bravery and sacrifice."
