Crews tackle woodland wildfire near main road

Crews are tackling a wildfire spanning about 4,000 sq m (43,055 sq ft) of woodland.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service was first called to the blaze, off the A628 Woodhead Pass near Glossop in Derbyshire, at 18:57 BST on Thursday.

The road was closed between the A57 at Hollingworth and the A616 at Flouch while firefighters dealt with the blaze, but it has since reopened.

Firefighters stayed late into the evening with four crews returning at about 06:30 on Friday.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
