A woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect over the death of a baby.
Cleveland Police said officers were called by ambulance staff over concerns for the welfare of a baby near Thornaby Road, in Thornaby, Teesside, on Tuesday.
The force said the baby was taken to hospital but died later. The death is currently being treated as unexplained.
The 32-year-old woman was bailed with conditions, pending further inquiries.
Officers have said the death is not being linked to any other incidents.
The force urged people not to speculate online to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
