Runaway rhea spotted at village recycling centre

A five-foot (1.5m) tall bird has been on the loose near a village recycling centre.

The rhea has been the talk of villagers at Bluntisham, Cambridgeshire, since it was first seen about two weeks ago.

The large flightless bird originates from South America and is a related to ostriches and emus.

No one has yet laid claim to the feathered friend but as the birds can sometimes be dangerous, with a powerful kick, people have been warned not to get too close.
