A team of 25 firefighters tackled a roof fire at a house in a Cambridgeshire village.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called at 14:46 GMT to a report of a fire affecting a detached property in Church Street, Yaxley.

Crews worked to remove items from the property and the fire was put out by around 17:30 GMT, the services said.

The fire service said one crew remained on site to dampen down and tackle hot spots until about 22:00. No one was injured in the incident.

A reinspection was carried out at 08:00 on Sunday and an investigation has been launched to determine the cause, the fire service said.

Church Street was closed off during the fire, while crews from Stanground, Dogsthorpe, Whittlesey, as well as the Peterborough Volunteers attended the incident.

A relief crew from Kimbolton also attended later.
