Man charged with five counts of attempted murder

A 44-year-old man has been charged with five counts of attempted murder following disorder in Walsall.

Police were called to reports of fighting and a gun being fired at a car in Reedswood Lane, Birchills, at about 23:50 BST on 31 July.

One man was shot while three others sustained stab wounds and were taken to hospital.

Shazhad Mahmood was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon, possessing Class A and class B drugs, and driving whilst disqualified.

He will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday.
