A man has pleaded guilty to injuring an 8-week-old baby without intent.
Adam Reeves, 31, of Mayfield Mews, Crewe, admitted the charge at Chester Crown Court on 18 March and is due to be sentenced on 2 May.
On Christmas Eve 2021, Reeves messaged the baby's mother while she was at work to say that the baby was not drinking his milk and that he looked spaced out, police said.
Reeves then made a call to 111 before taking the baby to Leighton Hospital's accident and emergency unit in Crewe, as he was struggling to breathe.
Concerns were raised by staff over an injury to the baby's chest. They also found he had suffered a number of broken ribs, a broken pelvis and had bruising all over his body.
Det Con Stacey Thompson from Cheshire Police said: "This has been an extremely difficult and emotional case for all involved, and I would like to thank the team of officers who have helped to secure this result and get justice for the victim and his family."
