Police have appealed for information after a report of an armed robbery in the Holyland area of south Belfast.

It was reported that a man entered an off-licence on Agincourt Avenue at about 16:25 GMT on Saturday and threatened two staff members with a knife.

Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Det Sgt Faulkner said there were no injuries but it was "undoubtedly a traumatic incident for staff and happened on a busy Saturday afternoon".

The man is reported to have taken a sum of money and some tobacco, before fleeing in the direction of Botanic Avenue.

He is described as being 5ft 10in (178cm) and was wearing a black coloured jacket with a grey hood, black trousers and light-coloured trainers.

He is believed to have been wearing a blue coloured surgical style mask and a red glove.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact them.
