The Queen's Bride in Kempston is closed off as the arch is deemed unsafe

A wooden footbridge has been closed to pedestrians because of structural safety concerns.

Queens Bridge, in Kempston, has been shut by Bedford Borough Council for an undetermined amount of time.

The authority has deemed the arch that supports the structure "unsafe".

Signs have diverted people towards Prebend Street, in the centre of Bedford, where they can cross the River Great Ouse via the Britannia Footbridge.

Queens Bridge, which is the only crossing between Kempston and Queens Park, will remain closed while a repair plan is developed and further checks take place.
