Multiple properties are without power following a flat fire in a town centre.

National Grid confirmed that up to 73 properties in Northampton have been affected, with repair efforts underway.

Northamptonshire Police was called to a property in Hunter Street, shortly after 01:25 BST, on Thursday, after fire crews responded to a fire in a flat.

While tackling the blaze, crews said they discovered signs of cannabis being grown at the property.

Emergency services remain at the scene, with road closures in place. Police are urging residents to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
