A stalker who called his victim’s workplace more than 1,000 times in an afternoon has been jailed.

Luke Gleeson “continuously abused and tormented” a Bicester woman, who is in her 20s, by phone, email and on social media between the end of April and mid-September, police said.

The 37-year-old, from Worrall, Sheffield, admitted a count of stalking involving fear of violence at Oxford Crown Court and was jailed for two years on Tuesday.

Det Con Sophie Smith, from Thames Valley Police, said Gleeson “displayed no concern nor care for the victim’s wellbeing”.

“Stalking is life-altering crime, and I hope the outcome of [the] court proceedings demonstrates to the public that we, the police, are taking these crimes seriously and will do everything in our power to assist any victims seeking help,” she said.

Gleeson was given an indefinite restraining order to prevent contact with the victim.
