Man who dodged £3.80 train fare to pay nearly £500

A man who failed to pay a £3.80 train fare has been told to pay nearly £500 in fines and costs.
Hashim Butt, 19, of Bath Road, Slough, was found to have dodged paying for his journey to the town on 14 November 2024.
Slough magistrates found him guilty in his absence at a hearing on 21 March.
Butt was fined £220 and told to pay £180 costs, an £88 victim surcharge and compensation of £3.80 to Great Western Railway - a total of £491.80. It must be paid by 18 April.
