Homes were evacuated while emergency crews dealt with a "major fire" at a field in Worcestershire.

Police and firefighters were called to the blaze near Staple Hill in Marlbrook, close to Bromsgrove, on Saturday evening.

Staple Flat was closed between Old Birmingham Road and Linehouse Lane while officers dealt with the incident.

West Mercia Police said the fire was under control by 22:00 BST on Saturday and added: "Thankfully, no casualties to report and all residents have now returned to their properties."

The BBC has sought further detail on the amount of homes affected and the number of people who had to leave properties.

Update 15 July 2025: Hereford & Worcester fire service previously said the fire had been caused by an unattended pan in a field and this information was included in our report. The fire service has since said "it was not a cooking pan" and this story has been updated in light of this.
