A water company is warning residents of possible disruption following repairs to a pump at a waterworks.

Southern Water said the pump failed earlier at its water supply works in Testwood, Southampton.

The water firm alerted households in the Marchwood, Dibden, Hythe, Calshot and Blackfield areas to the issue via text message and social media posts.

It said the pump had since been fixed and no customers were currently out of supply, but "supplies may be affected at some point today as we replenish our reservoirs".

Posting on social media shortly before 06:45 BST, initially the water firm said: "We’re sorry customers in Marchwood, Southampton are experiencing low pressure or no water."

The water firm said as a precaution it was preparing to set up bottled water stations and water tankers should they be needed.
