A drug dealer who escaped from hospital after being arrested has been jailed for two years.

Reece Reddington was initially held when Cambridgeshire Police saw him throwing a phone containing "hundreds of messages relating to drug dealing" in Soham.

The 36-year-old was detained by police in hospital but escaped the facility two days into his stay on 19 March. He was found in Fordham two weeks later.

Reddington, of no fixed address, later admitted being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs and escape from lawful custody.

Police said Reddington was first arrested on 17 March after he fled from officers in Celandine View, Soham.

He was found hiding in a garage after a pursuit and taken to hospital for treatment, Peterborough Crown Court heard.

His escape from hospital came "despite the best efforts of police at the scene", the force said.

“He’s now got two years to think about the consequences of his actions," Det Con Jess Freeman said.
