A safety scheme for lost children and vulnerable adults has launched in Cleethorpes.

Parents and carers are encouraged to write their contact details on wristbands, which are being distributed at beachfront venues.

A number of businesses have signed up to the Sandi Starfish scheme. Humberside Police has said lost children and vulnerable adults can go to these locations for help.

Sgt Shaun Pattinson said: “Over the busier months, we do see an increase in children and vulnerable adults going missing which we know causes huge distress for everyone involved. By bringing Sandi Starfish into action, we will hopefully be able to prevent this from happening as often or make it easier to reunite families."

Sgt Pattinson also urged parents and carers to take photographs of their child or vulnerable person when they arrive at the resort.

"This is a really big help as it provides officers with a better understanding of what the child is wearing if they do go missing," he added.
