A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after two people were pronounced dead at a property.
An Essex Police spokesperson said the force was called at 21:50 BST on Tuesday and received a report that two people had been "seriously injured" at an address on Cambridge Road, Ugley, Essex.
Officers found a man in his 20s and a woman in her 50s injured, and they both died at the scene.
A 63-year-old man from Ugley near Bishop's Stortford has been arrested and remains in custody.
'Difficult time'
Det Insp Lydia George said: “My thoughts are with the loved ones of the two people who were killed in Ugley last night.
"This will be an unimaginably difficult time for them, and they will be supported by specialist officers."
She added: “At this stage we do not believe this incident poses a risk to the wider public and we’re not looking for anyone else in connection with it."
Essex Police has asked anyone who might have more information to come forward and help with inquiries.
