Caravan park upgrade approved for year round use
- Published
An approved upgrade to a caravan site in Totnes will mean the site can be used all year round.
The upgrade will convert the existing grass caravan and motorhome pitches into 47 all-weather pitches, with electricity and water hook-ups.
The facilities’ block will also be refurbished inside and have solar panels installed.
Members of South Hams District Council's planning committee heard the upgrade would be good for the town but were told it would cost the club “a substantial sum of money” to redevelop.
Liberal Democrat councillor John Birch said the proposal was ‘excellent’.
He said the site had been closed for the summer season, and local people had been anxious to know what was happening, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Totnes Town Council representative Tim Bennett said the site "is a major element of our tourist provision and a key driver for the local economy."
