The spa at Alton Towers Resort will not reopen after closing for the final time on 31 December, bosses have confirmed.

A spokesperson said it was a difficult decision but essential for the company’s future plans.

Customers with bookings in 2024 would be contacted, they added.

Ten members of staff are affected, but the firm said it would look to re-assign as many as possible elsewhere within the resort.

“Our top priority has been supporting our employees at the spa during this time, including with advice on career opportunities available across the resort,” a spokesperson said.

”We are also in the process of contacting guests with bookings in 2024 to discuss alternative options.

“We sincerely appreciate the loyalty and support of our valued guests and dedicated colleagues throughout the years.”

They said there were only limited bookings for 2024 and all guests would either be refunded or provided with alternative options.
