Police investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were found at a house in Stoke-on-Trent, say they are not looking for anyone else in their inquiry.

The man and woman, who were both aged in their 70s, were found on Saturday afternoon, at a property on Catalina Place, Meir Park.

Forensics officers are continuing to work at the scene, says Staffordshire Police, and post-mortem examinations are due to take place later this week.

Relatives of the deceased are being supported by specialist officers, the force says, stressing it was not looking for anyone else in relation to the "tragic incident".

House-to-house inquiries have also been taking place, officers said.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) said it had been called to the private address on Catalina Place, Stoke-on-Trent just before 14:00 BST.

Two ambulances and a paramedic office attended, where they found a man and woman.

Unfortunately it was clear nothing to be done to save them, WMAS said, and they were confirmed dead at the scene.

Anybody with information that could help the investigation has been urged to call police on 101.
