A car left the A447 and hit a wall in Stapleton, police said

A man died when the car he was travelling in crashed into a brick wall off a busy Leicestershire road.

Leicestershire Police was called to reports of the crash on the A447, in Stapleton, north of Hinckley, at about 09:30 BST on Monday.

The force said the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, despite receiving treatment from paramedics.

The A447 was closed between Hinckley Road and Stapleton Lane for much of the day, but was reopened on Monday afternoon.
