Leeds band mark Mercury nomination with free show

Leeds indie band English Teacher are set to perform a free concert in their home city to celebrate their nomination for the prestigious Mercury Prize.
The group will perform at the Brudenell Social Club, Burley, from 19:00 BST on Wednesday, with fans warned it would be "first come, first serve".
English Teacher received the nod for the Mercury Prize 2024 shortlist on Thursday for their debut record This Could Be Texas.
Other shortlisted acts included fellow Leeds artist Corinne Bailey Rae, Bradford record producer Nia Archives, Charlie XCX and The Last Dinner Party.
English Teacher are also set to perform in Millennium Square in Leeds on Saturday, opening for Leeds group and previous Mercury Prize nominees Yard Act.
The 2024 Mercury Prize overall winner will be announced in September.
