Police have issued a dispersal order in a Lincolnshire village after reports of young people "causing nuisance".

Villagers reported groups of up to 30 teenagers engaging in antisocial behaviour in Claypole, near Newark, according to Lincolnshire Police.

The order prevents groups of people gathering around a bridge over the River Witham. Anyone who does not comply could face arrest and prosecution.

In a statement, the force asked parents to ensure that "we won’t be bringing their child home" if called to a disturbance.

'Spat at'

The order covers the Shire Lane, Shire Lane Bridge and Main Street areas and will be in place until 16.30 BST on Wednesday.

In one reported incident, a motorist who attempted to speak to a group of youths had his car "thumped and spat at".

Another disturbance at the bridge involved about 30 young people, aged between about 14 and 18, jumping into the water, standing in the road and "causing a general nuisance", the force said.
