Police searches have continued at a property in Cambridge after a man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a regulated explosive without a licence last week.

Officers executed a warrant at a home in Ross Street, in the Romsey area, on 16 January, after being told there may be chemicals there.

A police presence has remained at the home with searches continuing.

The arrested man, 40, has been released on police bail and is due to return to Parkside Police Station on 17 April.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "The warrant was required to ensure the safety of anyone living in or near the property.

"Police and multi-agency officers remain at the scene in Ross Street.

"There is not believed to be any danger to the wider public."
